Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg. Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes, it’s a duck-blur. If you read those words in time to the memorized opening song of the DuckTales cartoon, you might be pleased to learn that, as the title of this article no doubt already gave away, Disney is bringing back Scrooge McDuck and the dynamic trio of Huey, Dewey, and Louie for another round of zany adventures. But don’t expect this revival to look the same as it once did. Rather than the classic style of old cartoons, this newer DuckTales will more resemble the style of newspaper comic strips.

The logo has been given a refreshment. Above is the original, and the bottom is the redesign. The color has been killed off and replaced with a pleasant grain texture.

This choice of art style comes to us from a world of CGI and special effects. DuckTales’s new visuals should help to set it apart from other shows in a refreshing way. Not to mention that the full cast of characters is expected to return for the second hurrah, and Donald Duck, Launchpad, and the Beagle Boys are already confirmed to play major roles in the new show. Thus far no trailers have been released, but we’re closing in bit by bit on the premiere, which means something in video form ought to be coming along soon. DuckTales flies onto the screen on Disney DX next year, 2017.

With its main fan base all grown up these days, this reboot of DuckTales will be a treat those fans can compare with their childhood memories as they share it with their own little tots. Why not start the nostalgia trip early by leaving a comment shout out to your favorite character or episode?
