We reported previously that a new Doctor Who spin-off was in the works. ‘Class’s setting is Coal Hill School, most noteworthy for being the workplace of the Doctor’s first companions. Clara, the Doctor’s most recent companion, also taught there. Therefore, being so steeped in Whoniverse lore, it’s a perfect setting for a spin-off. The show’s premise is about the students dealing with regular life mixed with alien invasions. And that was as much as we’ve had for a while, info-wise.
Finally, we have new details about ‘Class’ including a release date for the first episode. Perhaps most noteworthy is that the Twelfth Doctor will make an appearance in the first episode. Series creator Patrick Ness confirmed this while speaking to the Telegraph.
“At last, we can tell you a little more about Class!” said Ness. “Though there are still many, many secrets to come. Many. Like, a lot. But of course the Doctor is in episode one! That’s how these things are done. Truly, though, I can’t wait for everyone to see the show; we’ve worked so hard and I’m so proud of it.”
‘For Tonight we might die’ is the title of the first episode of the online-only series. Actual plot details are still a bit thin on the ground. Yet the Telegraph has some plot details to report.
“according to the BBC it follows “four alienated students” who are “charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as the Doctor: guard against the creatures of nightmare that want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.”
The First two episodes will debut on BBC Three online on the 22nd of October.
