This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information.

The last World War II Call of Duty Game,ย Call of Duty: World at War, also happens to be the genesis of Treyarch’s Black Ops timeline. World at War brought players face to face with the horrible brutality of war — even asking players to make truly horrifyingย decisions about the fate ofย captured combatants. Treyarch would continue with their Black Ops series, though it never came close to makingย the realities of war as gruesome and terrible as they were in World at War.

Yet,ย Call of Duty: World at War is a solid piece of first person shooting, easily becoming a favorite amongย Call of Dutyย players, especially with the addition of a deeply expanded and nuanced zombies mode. Zombies would continue on in some form or another in every Treyarch game and quickly became one of the most addicting meta games in any first-person shooter.

Call of Duty: World at War
Zombies mode was kind popular

Withย Call of Duty: Modern Warfareย getting a complete remaster later this year, Treyarch is making the right move by making World at War backwards compatible on Xbox One systems. Now you can play all past Call of Duty games on your Xbox One which takes advantage of streaming and more reliable online support. Larry Hryb tweeted:

What do you think about the addition of World at War to the backwards compatible library for Xbox One? Will gamers today still have the aching desire to storm the beaches of Peleliuย or break down the doors of the heavily fortified Reichstag?
