Alan Wake 2 has been released to critical acclaim, but what is after the supernatural horror game? Remedy Entertainment has given an update to its next major project, the remake of Max Payne 1 and 2. While we are years away, positive progress is putting the devs on the right path, according to comments from the studios’ CEO.

Remedy Entertainment Moves Forward With Remake of First Two Max Payne Games

Alan Wake 2 - Launch Trailer | PS5 Games

In a Q3 2023 financial report, Remedy Entertainment provided where it is at in some of its upcoming projects, including the remake of the first two Max Payne games. CEO Tero Virtala wrote that the studio has “gained clarity on the style and scope.” Due to an “exceptionally well-organized team,” it is in the “production readiness stage.”

The CEO has also noted that releasing Alan Wake 2 opens the studio up to work on its four other projects, which include its current remakes. What the studio is also working on includes updates and two expansions to Alan Wake 2; Control 2, which is at the “proof-of-concept stage,” its multiplayer game Condor is also at the same stage, and it is “defining the next stages of” its free-to-play PvE game, Codename Vanguard.

Alan Wake 2 was released during a busy time of year, with competition from other AAA games, like Spider-Man 2. But coming in as a long-awaited sequel from a studio that had great success with its last game, Control, it has arrived to positive reviews for the horror sequel that has had fans waiting for 13 years.

No release window has been set for the remake of the first two Max Payne games from Remedy Entertainment. We should expect the Alan Wake 2 expansions to be released in 2024, so at least we will have something new from the studio.
