FromSoftware’s parent company Kadokawa recently gave an update on the status of the DLC for Elden Ring titled Shadow of the Erdtree in an earnings report. The DLC for the critically lauded title was initially announced back in February of this year, but updates on content and progress have been effectively nonexistent in the months since.
It’s not like FromSoftware’s most recent Soulsborne title Elden Ring is particularly short on content. The game is often regarded as one where the player can head in any particular direction they please and always find something worth doing. That hasn’t stopped many eager players from beating the notoriously tough title multiple times since its release back in February 2022. Those players are the ones most impatient to get any kind of news on the game’s upcoming DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, and Kadokawa recently delivered some promising news.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Update
An earnings report from Kadokawa recently cited that the development cycle on the Elden Ring DLC is going “smoothly,” although the report fails to go further in depth as to when people can expect Shadow of the Erdtree‘s arrival. FromSoftware remains incredibly quiet about the DLC as it works behind the scenes on its development and continues to support its most recent game Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Very little is known about Shadow of the Erdtree at this point other than that it will be bringing new story content and, of course, a number of new and brutally challenging bosses.
Elden Ring was initially released in February 2022 and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was announced in February 2023, a year after the game’s initial launch. With February 2024 beginning to creep its way closer and closer, it could be that FromSoftware is steadily chipping away at the DLC with hopes to release it at the same time as they’ve released everything else relating to the game and its extra content.
