Stamina is a crucial resource in My Time at Sandrock, and for good reason. It’s what allows you to do almost everything in the game, from exploring the Abandoned Ruins to defeating enemies in combat. You can refill your stamina by resting or eating food, and while the saloon sells meals, it’s cheaper to make your own. The Drying Rack is your introduction to cooking in My Time at Sandrock, as it makes simple food items that refill your stamina more than raw ingredients.
How to Craft the Drying Rack in My Time at Sandrock
To get a Drying Rack in My Time at Sandrock, you’ll need to:
- Get the blueprints from the Research Center.
You can get the blueprints for the Drying Rack from Qi at the Research Center. The plans cost 6 Data Discs, which can be collected in the Abandoned Ruins. After you’ve bought the plans, they’ll take 3 days to arrive in your mailbox.
- Craft or Buy 2 Copper Sticks
Copper Sticks can be crafted at the Processor using 2 Copper Bars per stick. They take 1 in-game hour to craft. Alternatively, Copper Sticks can be found by recycling Copper Scrap or bought at Hammer Time.
- Craft or Buy 2 Copper Screws
Copper Screws can be crafted using a Grinder and need one Copper Bar per screw. They take one in-game hour to craft. If you don’t have a Grinder, Copper Screws can also be bought at Hammer Time.
- Assemble the Drying Rack
Using the Assembly Station, put the Copper Sticks and Copper Screws into the Drying Rack blueprint to craft the machine. Once it’s assembled, you can place the Drying Rack anywhere you have at least 3×1 tiles of open space.
How to Use the Drying Rack
Like any other machine in My Time at Sandrock, you can put raw materials and fuel into the Drying Rack and wait for it to finish working. Unlike the other machines, though, the Drying Rack takes in and puts out food. At its most basic level, the Drying Rack can produce Jerky, Dried Sandberry, Salted Fish, and Dried Sandacuda. It can also produce Paper from plant fiber, but that’s not what we focus on here.
Admittedly, the Drying Rack might seem pointless because you could just eat raw Meat, berries, or fish. However, there’s a benefit to putting the ingredients into the Drying Rack, and that’s the major stamina increase. For example, Meat by itself recovers 4 Stamina when eaten. Once the Meat becomes Jerky, however, it’s raised from “Normal” to “Outstanding” quality and now recovers 10 Stamina.
