The Drifter is an interesting Survivor that you can unlock in Risk of Rain Returns. They are a resourceful brawler who also has a supportive gameplay style. You’re able to generate scrap by using the Blunt Force and Suffocate Skills to Salvage them into a powerful bundle of items that you can use. The Drifter isn’t necessarily difficult to find, but it can be infuriating to do, considering the requirement needed to unlock it. Fortunately, we did all the hard work for you to find out how and where to unlock the Drifter in Risk of Rain Returns.

You’ll need to follow these instructions if you want to unlock the Drifter in Risk of Rain Returns:

  1. Unlock the Artifact of Command.

  2. Get the Drone Repair Kit equipment.

  3. Keep progressing until you find a Drone Scrapper that only requires one drone.

  4. Scrap the drone using the Drone Scrapper and repair it using the Drone Repair Kit.

  5. Repeat this step six times.

At that point. you’ll have completed the challenge titled ‘Recycle 6 drones in one playthrough.’ Alongside completing the challenge, you will also unlock the Drifter when you either lose or complete your run.

Drifter Skills

NameWhat It Does
Blunt Force3-hit Combo, hit enemies in a wide range for 120%-240% damage. Each hit in the combo has an added chance to generate more scrap.
CleanupToss out some of your spare scraps, spawning four bouncing, piercing projectiles for 55% damage each. Small change to spawn special projectiles.
SuffocateSlam enemies with your bag for 200% damage, and stunning them. If the enemy is under 20% health, Consume them; converting them into scrap.
SalvageConsume a large amount of scrap to spawn four temporary items.

Risk of Rain Returns is available for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
