Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed the Roadhog rework, which is coming to Overwatch 2. The rework, which introduces a new ability, goes live on November 14 in-game. Blizzard has not stated if the rework will be immediately available in competitive or if it will be held for two weeks like new heroes. The rework introduces Pig Pen, a new trap ability, and provides major changes to Roadhog’s weapon and healing. Here are all of the details for Roadhog’s rework in Overwatch 2.

While the full patch notes have not been available yet, Blizzard shared details in a Q and A with Twitch Streamer 6Cyx. First up in the Roadhog Overwatch 2 rework is the Scrap Gun, which no longer has an alt-fire. Instead, its primary fire is now medium range, with a damage increase from 150 to 160. It has fewer pellets but now has a volley of shrapnel in the middle of its shot, each dealing 15 damage. This change gives Roadhog one consistent mid-range shot instead of short-range and long-range options.

Take A Breather has been moved to Roadhog’s alt-fire and now functions on a meter. Its cooldown has been reduced from 8 seconds to 1 second, but it has a meter that takes 12 seconds to refill. This means that Roadhog can use part of his rebreather to do some healing instead of always using the full 450 healing. Think of it more like Reinhardt’s shield instead of a cooldown-based ability. The damage reduction has been reduced from 50% to 30% while active.

Last is Roadhog’s new ability, Pig Pen. This ability is a trap that Roadhog can place on the ground, similar to Junkrat’s trap. When an enemy steps on it, it slows them and deals 60 damage. After, it deals 30 damage per second in an area around the trap for a 3-second duration. It has a 12 cooldown. This new ability gives Roadhog a second method of crowd control and his Chain Hook, which was unchanged.
