Understanding Your HUD in Spirittea
(Updated on August 15, 2024 – updated links and format)
Like any other game, the HUD is vital. You can quickly become lost if you don’t navigate your way around it. Below is a guide to everything you should know about the HUD in Spirittea:
- Held Item: In the upper left corner, you’ll see either your Backpack, Notebook, or Brochure. It all depends on what you currently hold.
- Season/Time: Check in the upper right corner to note the season and the current game time.
- Stamina: Without energy, you’ll quickly pass out and wake up back home. This food icon will empty the more you deplete your stamina.
- Moolags: Here’s where you’ll see how much money you have.
- Date: The calendar highlights the day and date.
- Spirit Gauge: This icon shows how much spiritual energy you have.
Spirittea Guide – Learning the Town
One of the first things you want to do in Spirittea is learn the town. It’s not that big, but it can get frustrating to travel one way only to find out you need to go the opposite way. So, pay close attention at the start of Spirittea when Jan guides you around to help introduce you to everyone. This way, you won’t waste time when you need to visit a specific townsfolk.
Travel Options
In Spirittea, whether you’re alone or have your trusty spirit guide at your side, you can travel in different ways. First is, of course, walking. But this can take some time, and it’s impossible to catch spirits at a slow pace. Instead, you can sprint. Remember, though, that sprinting will drain your stamina.
However, the best way to travel in the game is by bike. A bike is not a cheap investment. So, let’s hope that good and firm handling of spirits in Spirittea guides you to enough money to spend at Wheelies.
Find and Guide Spirits in Spirittea
The core focus in Spirittea is to guide wayward spirits back to their old selves. However, you must find them first. That’s where you’ll utilize your Spirit Vision. Walk around various places in town with Spirit Vision activated to track down the spirits. In the beginning, this is simple enough.
As you progress through the game, finding spirits becomes a bit more involved. You may have to solve specific puzzles, speak to the townsfolk to learn about strange happenings, and generally watch out for odd signs. Your Spirit Vision will drain your Spirit Gauge over time. You can drink Spirit Tea to restore it or sleep for a few hours.
Manage Your Bathhouse
Now, we get to the key focus of Spirittea: the bathhouse. It’s your primary source of income as long as you run it effectively. Once you follow the brief tutorial to awaken it, it’s up to you to maintain it until you make enough Moolags to hire employees. Until then, remember to cut the Spirit Tree to keep the bathhouse hot. Not just for the baths but to dry out the cleaned towels. On the topic of towels, you can pre-clean and dry a stack so that you always have spares.
Keeping things hot isn’t the only way to guide spirits to have fun in the Spirittea bathhouse. Instead, you have to focus on where you put them. Some spirits don’t like each other. It might take some trial and error, but you’ll quickly learn on sight what spirits to place where. Also, some are simply too big for the baths. So, progress through the game and open more sections as soon as possible.
With the above guide, you should understand the basics of Spirittea. There are a few more ways the game branches out, such as interacting with the townsfolk to build a relationship with them (platonic only, as the game lacks any romance). There are also cooking minigames to enjoy, but all this takes place after the initial start.
