Grounded is one of the more approachable survival games out there. That being said, it sometimes holds your hand sparingly. Case in point, you may be wondering how to get grub hide in Grounded. If so, here’s the key information you’ll need. Let’s get into it!
How to Get Grub First (Grounded Grub Location)
(Updated on August 9, 2024 – updated links and formatting)
Speaking of grub, it’s one of the more elusive bugs in Grounded. They spawn randomly, but there are certain areas where they can spawn more frequently. Try out the following locations below.
- Around the Oak Tree (preferred location for ease)
- Caverns
- Grasslands
- Undersheds & shed surroundings
- Usually anywhere with damp soil

How to Tame a Pet in GroundedWe recommend the soil around the Oak Tree. Grubs are stealthy since they spawn as burrowers. Here’s how to hunt for grubs.
- You’ll need an Acorn Shovel first (unlock the blueprint either by analyzing an Acorn shell at a Field Station or reaching Brainpower Level 3).
- Look for soil areas with disturbance or movement underneath. Grubs will make the soil above them bulge or mound up when they move while burrowed.
- Equip your shovel and aim for the moving soil bulge, then hit it with the shovel, which will unearth the grub.
- You have a few seconds before the grub burrows again, so keep hitting it until it dies.
- If the grub manages to burrow away, just dig them out again with the shovel.
How to Get Grub Hide in Grounded
Once you’ve killed your grub, getting grub hide in Grounded is as easy as harvesting the remains of the dead grub you squished. You won’t be getting just grub hide for all your efforts. Other materials are also present. Below is a list of what dead grubs contain.
- Grub Hide (certain drop range of 1-3 but with an additional amount of up to three if you’re lucky)
- Grub Sludge (certain drop range of 1-6 but with an additional amount of up to two if you’re lucky)
- Raw Grub Meat (drop range of 0-1)
You will need to repeat the grub hunting and harvesting process quite a lot since grub hide is a staple component for a lot of Grounded’s crafted items from armor to utility.
