The Foxian Tales of the Haunted event debuted in Honkai Star Rail‘s version 1.5, bringing some fun and scary quests, including the Haunted House mission. While at first, this quest might seem like your run-of-the-mill combat quest, it has a lot of things to do and find. With the amount of puzzle-solving involved, finishing it can be tedious and stressful for some, especially for those who want to reach this questline’s ending. Thankfully, some clues are easier to find than others if you have the right help.
Honkai Star Rail: Haunted House Solution
Before attempting this mission, you’ll need to finish the Sword Essence quest, which is part of the Fyxestroll Gathering III. Once you do, you’ll unlock two new investigations; we’ll focus on the Haunted House one in Honkai Star Rail. This quest has a few puzzles you need to solve before you reach the combat part. Here, we’ve listed all the steps you must follow to complete it:
Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:
- 1. Teleport to the Alchemy Commission and talk to the poster.
Simply press “V” to track the quest as soon as you grab it, and head to the Space Anchor next to the objective. Talk to the poster to progress the quest and enter the Haunted House.
- 2. Choose your team for the Haunted House.
The fight is pretty easy, regardless of your level. However, we recommend bringing Lightning, Ice, and Wind elements. In our case, we brought Trailblazer (Fire), Jingliu, Serval, and Huohuo. If you don’t have any premium characters, you can bring Natasha and Dan Heng.
- 3. Interact with the Poster on the wall to receive an item.
As soon as you enter the Haunted House, finish the cutscene, and interact with the poster on the left wall, you’ll receive the Unusually Colored Lodestone.
- 4. Head to the first room and use the Lodestone on the Box.
With the Lodestone in your position, find the box next to the wall and use the Lodestone; you’ll receive the first key to get out of the room.
- 5. Head to the upper right corner of the first room and grab the broken Glaive.
Before you leave the first room, head to the upper right corner and interact with the wooden box to obtain the Shattered Cloud Knight Devastator Glaive.
- 6. Head to the room on the left and use the Glaive to open the box.
When you enter the new room, you’ll see a courier package. To open it, you must use the Glaive. After doing it, you’ll get the second courier key.
- 7. Grab the Old Bell and the Square Rice Ball.
Before leaving the new room, grab the Old Bell in the bushes and the Square Rice Ball inside the boxes next to the door leading to the new room.
- 8. Use the Old Bell on the boxes in the upper right corner of the room.
When you enter the final room, head to the upper right corner and interact with the boxes. Use the Old Bell to summon a Critter.
- 9. Follow the handprints and use the Square Rice Ball.
After freeing the Critter, you’ll see a trail of handprints on the wall. Follow it and interact with it. Use the Square Rice Ball to obtain the Discarded Letter Sheets.
- 10. Return to the first room and use the Discarded Letter Sheets.
Head to the very first room of the Haunted House and use the Discarded Letter Sheets with the stone. You’ll receive Rubbings on Paper, which contains clues for the password.
- 11. Input the Password in the final room.
Return to the last room you opened and interact with the chest in the middle. You must input the password by following this sequence: 1, 3, 2, 8. Doing so will form a “T” and summon the Heliobus.
- 12. Defeat the Heliobus.
After opening the chest, you’ll fight the Heliobus. It isn’t a challenging fight, but make sure to use the event’s abilities to make the fight much easier.
- 13. Speak with the Poster, make a new social media post, and finish the quest.
All you have to do is follow the markers to end the quest. You must speak to the landlord to discover the reason behind the Heliobus and make your social media post. The type of post you pick doesn’t matter, but we chose the Hottest Scoops one as we thought it fit better.
The Haunted House mission in Honkai: Star Rail is a long one but fun nonetheless. It has a lot of puzzles, which are quite welcome, and some plot twists that you don’t expect. While there are many more quests in the event, this one was one of our favorites due to the small plot and the Heliobus inside the house.
