With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, a new item called the Ballistic Shield was added to the game. If you’ve seen the Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 5 Launch Trailer, you’ve surely noticed this Riot Shield in the Train Heist scene. Especially in tight corridors and indoor areas, the Ballistic Shield will definitely come in handy. But first, you need to know where to find this item and how to use it. Now let’s move on to everything you need to know about the Ballistic Shield.

How To Get Ballistic Shield in Fortnite

In Fortnite, Ballistic Shields can appear in many different locations and scenarios. However, like many other items, you can find the Riot Shield in Chests, Supply Drops, and rarely as Floor Loot. Another alternative way to get this item is through other players. It’s a very useful item, and especially since it’s a new item, many Fortnite players will take it to try it out. You can get the Ballistic Shield by killing these players.

Other than that, the best way to find this item is in Vaults. In Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, Valeria, Peter Griffin, Montague, Oscar, and Nisha appear as bosses in certain locations in the game, and they all have Vaults to protect. These Vaults contain extremely valuable loot, and there are plenty of Chests inside. Therefore, you are very likely to find Ballistic Shields in these locations. Based on our experience with Fortnite, we don’t think Riot Shield will be of much use in the build version, but we’re sure it will be very useful for players in Zero Build.

As we mentioned before, the Ballistic Shield will be an extremely useful item for Zero Build players, but there are things you need to know before using it to avoid getting yourself killed. In Fortnite, the Ballistic Shield has durability, which decreases as you take damage. Therefore, you should keep an eye on the Ballistic Shield’s durability when using this item, otherwise, things can go downhill.

If the item runs out of durability the Ballistic Shield will suddenly break while the enemy is shooting at you and you will start taking damage. Apart from that, using the Ballistic Shield indoors prevents the enemy from getting behind you and gives you a greater advantage.

This wraps up everything you need to know about the new Ballistic Shield in Fortnite, good luck finding it!
