Kody Brown wrote his fate with Meri Brown on the last season of Sister Wives. The strain between Meri and Kody came to a head this year, with the couple announcing their split in January. The split itself played out on season 18 of Sister Wives, with the distance between the two growing, causing some angst for Kody’s remaining wife, Robyn Brown. In part two of Sister Wives: One on One, Meri revealed that she was tired of getting a different story from Kody when cameras weren’t rolling than what she saw play out on screen. One moment last season exemplified this and helped Meri make up her mind about moving on and how she wanted to do it.
Kody Downplayed His Connection to Meri
During the Sister Wives: One-on-One for Season 17, Kody Brown talked about the continued strain in his relationship with Meri Brown. He ultimately dismissed his connection to Meri with one comment.
“I don’t really consider myself married to Meri,” Kody said. “If she wanted to move on and marry another, she wouldn’t get an argument with me.”
Meri Brown Said Watching It Helped Her Make Her Decision
Meri Brown noted that the two had broken up when the comment was made. Still, that news was not yet public. She admitted to host Sukanya Krishnan that she was blindsided by the statement.
“Honestly, it wasn’t even the conversation that he had with you. It was scenes that I had just seen that we showed right here that day,” Meri acknowledged.
Explaining that Kody wanted to keep the breakup quiet to avoid public scrutiny, Meri says she realized she deserves more.
“I was owed that. I was owed him having that conversation with me publicly instead of seeing it after the fact,” she said, referencing her years with Kody Brown.
“My voice will be heard,” Meri concluded. “I will no longer be silent.”
