The Dragon Warrior has one last thing to do before he can retire. The trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4 shows Jack Black back as Po as he tries to pass the baton to a fox named Zhen (Awkwafina) but must defeat a new evil enemy, Chameleon (Viola Davis). The new footage also welcomes back returning characters with Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu, James Hong as Mr. Ping, Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father, Li, and Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and enemy. Ke Huy Quan will also join as the newcomer Han.
The Kung Fu Panda 4 trailer sees Po as he is told to be the leader of the Valley of Peace and step away from being the Dragon Warrior. Meanwhile, Chameleon is taking the power of other powerful fighters to be the biggest, meanest master around. Additionally, Po teams up with Zhen to take down the Chameleon before any more damage can be done.
Kung Fu Panda 4 Trailer Sets Up a New Threat for Jack Black
New directors are coming in for the fourth installment of the animated film series. Trolls director Mike Mitchell co-directs with She-Ra and the Princesses of Power‘s Stephanie Stine. The first film was made by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne. The first sequel was helmed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson. She returns to co-direct with Alessandro Carloni.
It’s been a long time for fans to wait for the Kung Fu Panda 4 trailer. Each film has been a major success, but the time gaps have grown further and further apart between each entry. The original trilogy grossed a total of $1.8 billion. The first film was made in 2008 and grossed $631 million; 2011’s sequel made $664 million, and 2016’s third installment grossed $521 million.
The wait will be over soon enough as Kung Fu Panda 4 will hit theaters on March 8, 2024.
