Luck is a crucial part of every roguelike and roguelite, but what does the Luck stat do in Death Must Die? In this game, it’s an actual statistic your character possesses, not just a measure of how well RNG treats you. You’ll need to make the most of all of your stats if you want to survive during the game’s difficult runs, and knowing how these stats affect you is a good place to start. By mastering Luck, you can get the very gods on your side, increasing your chances of landing devastating attacks. Here’s what you need to know about what Luck does in Death Must Die.

No matter where your character falls on the tier list in Death Must Die, you’ll get more out of them if you know what Luck does. As the game says, Luck is a “multiplier for chance-based god blessings, item spells or objects.” That means the Luck stat increases the likelihood that certain chance-based effects will actually trigger. While some blessings offer flat buffs or always work, others have only a certain chance of working. For example, if one of your blessings has a 15% chance of triggering per attack and you have a Luck of 10%, your odds of triggering that blessing increase to 25%.

If your build doesn’t rely on this kind of RNG-based god blessing, you probably don’t need much Luck. That said, builds that do make heavy use of such blessings will want to prioritize their Luck stat. You can increase your Luck in Death Must Die by visiting certain Shrines or by equipping gear that includes Luck as a stat. Because both Shrines and gear drops are themselves based on RNG, your character’s luck is pretty much going to depend upon your own. That means that during many runs, Luck simply won’t be a good option for you. That’s pretty much how the gods intend it in Death Must Die.
