So the CW has been making no secret about taking advantage of its huge selection of superheroes. The Heroes vs Aliens crossover is coming fast. And while Supergirl lives in a different universe to the others, she’s the one kicking off the event.
While Kara is the newcomer to the CW, an official synopsis suggests she’s the team’s ace in the hole:
“Realising the battle against the Dominators is bigger than they thought, they track down the Legends of Tomorrow, and Barry and Cisco create a breach to bring back a secret weapon – Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist).”
The Dominators are old school DC villains who haven’t been seen in the comics in a while. While they first appeared in Legion of Superheroes, they soon made a bigger impression. A DC comics wide crossover called invasion had the Dominators leading an alien alliance. The Dominators led the attack due to fear of humanity’s genetic potential. This fear was as a result of so many superheroes appearing on Earth.

Of course, Heroes vs Aliens also ties into another major Arrowverse event; Flashpoint. According to official CW info;
“Once all of the super friends are assembled, they come up with a plan to attack, but a shocking secret related to Flashpoint is revealed and suddenly no one is sure who they can trust.”
The Flashpoint event has already passed on The Flash, but they did say we’d be feeling the after effects. Could the Dominator’s attack be something that only happens in the post Flashpoint timeline? With Kara from another universe, she might be the voice of reason on this issue.
