Once you finally get your bearings in Anno 1800, it becomes more of a game (or obsession) about optimizing and streamlining your production chains. There’s something oddly satisfying in refining raw materials into luxury goods to fatten up your Engineer and Investor population. Sure enough, you’ll want our Anno 1800 production layouts guide for an optimal industrial district.
Best Anno 1800 Production Layouts
Unfortunately, beauty-building your factories and farms into symmetrical districts is a lot more challenging compared to housing layouts. The production buildings all have different plot sizes and shapes compared to the uniformity of housings.
However, all production buildings in Anno 1800 rely on a handful of crucial structures to significantly boost their production rates (as though it was a cheat). Those buildings would be none other than the Trade Union and the Warehouse.
- Trade Union – In the early game, they might seem bothersome, but later on, you’ll get powerful Legendary Specialists that will allow you to eliminate entire production chains completely.
- Harbormaster’s Office is the version for coastal buildings.
- Warehouse – You can get by without a Warehouse for your production buildings, but those goods won’t go anywhere if the Trading Post is too far. So a nearby Warehouse is mandatory.
That’s the gist of the best Anno 1800 production layouts. You basically just build your production around these aforementioned buildings.
Anno 1800 Production Layouts Revolve Around the Specialists
Of the several buildings we mentioned, the Trade Union is the most important, and you should take advantage of its effect radius. You build factories around the Trade Union and wait until you can place the following specialists in them:
- Bruno Ironbright, Engineering Giant (Legendary) – He makes factories produce free Advanced Weapons and Steam Motors.
- Dario the Mechanical Engineer (Rare) – He makes factories produce free Pocket Watches and Gramophones.
As for the factories you’ll be building around the Trade Union containing the two specialists above, you can go with either these or both of them:
- Bicycle Factory
- Sewing Machine Factory
Build them in a circular pattern around your Trade Union buildings. Pretty soon, you’ll be swimming in Advanced Weapons, Steam Motors, Pocket Watches, and Gramophones, and you’ll be breaking the economy with your surplus of luxury goods.
You can even sell these excess luxury goods to Emperor Ketema to fuel his lavish spending habits, and you’ll be a millionaire in no time. That’s one way of tricking trickle-down economics.
