DC fans are curious about what the future holds now that the DCEU has ended with the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Some minor but enticing details have been unveiled about Superman: Legacy, including a hint of the plot from the logline and when it will go into production. The James Gunn-directed film will begin principal photography on March 4, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Superman: Legacy Logline Gives a Taste of Its Plot
Production List revealed, and then confirmed by Collider, the latest info on the first film in the DCU. It will follow “Superman, a cub reporter in Metropolis,” who “embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.” We knew that it would not be an origin story, so similarly to The Batman, we will see a Clark Kent who has some experience under his belt as a journalist and as the Man of Steel.
One of the biggest questions about the plot of Superman: Legacy will be how the other heroes fit into the story. We will expect plenty of development between David Corenswet’s Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane. Still, there will be an assortment of other super-powered beings, from heroes to antagonists. Those heroes and villains include Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer. Other stars include Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
The anxiousness for the start of the DCU has built pressure for what the Guardians of the Galaxy director will be building. It will officially start on the small screen with the animated series Creature Commandos in 2024. On the film side, we will get the first big-screen treatment for the universe with Superman: Legacy on July 11, 2025.
