The only workable solution to resolve this error is downloading Warzone and MW3, both games. This is because, after the recent update, some of the MW3 files have been moved to the Warzone. Therefore, downloading both games will ensure all necessary files are presented and resolve the error.

Some other solution methods are cleaning the disc, replacing the disc, testing the disc in another console, updating the game files, and allowing the game in your firewall settings. We are not sure exactly why Activision made some game files of MW3 only available through Warzone after the update. It might have been an oversight or a deliberate decision. Either way, it has caused inconvenience to players experiencing this error.

The solution presented to fix the MW3 Disc Read Error 8.7 has angered some, who complain that the game is forcing players to install Warzone. Some believe this results from insufficient Warzone players, leading to the company ‘making’ players download it. Some said they won’t play Warzone because battle royal games are repetitive. Also, one player suggested that selling Warzone as a standalone game would be a better solution. Because then they can see the actual numbers and how the Warzone performs.
