When Soulframe was announced back in the 2022 TennoCon, it became a subject of fascination for many longtime Warframe fans. A high fantasy game similar to Warframe was, after all, a breath of fresh air from all the sci-fi looter shooters. Needless to say, it can’t come soon enough. That is why we’re here to inform you of the Soulframe release date window and why it’s bound to be exciting.
When Will Soulframe be Released?

Currently, there is no specific or confirmed date yet for Soulframe‘s release. However, after the recent TennoCon, we learned that this new endeavor by Digital Extremes is coming in late 2024. When is that exactly? That’s uncertain, but at least there’s a release date window now.
Presumably, developer Digital Extremes can dedicate more manpower to Soulframe now that the Duviri Paradox expansion for Warframe is done. Nothing is set in stone yet, and it’s also fair to expect some delays to happen.
Is Soulframe Connected to Warframe?
The big question among Warframe players is whether Soulframe is connected to Warframe, whether via vague lore links or full-blown references. Until the game gets released, there might not be a clear answer to that.
Still, Steve Sinclair tweeted back in 2022 that Soulframe won’t be taking place in the same universe as Warframe. Soulframe might pursue its separate continuity and independent story. But there will be some tie-ins or perhaps homages to Warframe.
It’s also worth noting that the universe compartmentalization has never stopped Warframe. It had no problem tapping into hidden or unknown realms due to the flexible nature of its sci-fi lore. So while you might not see some of Warframe in Soulframe, there’s a fair assumption that you might see some of Soulframe in Warframe, if that makes sense.
Is Soulframe an MMORPG?
The other big question is what kind of game Soulframe will be. Warframe, after all, is mostly a co-op looter shooter with some instanced hub areas. It’s technically not an MMORPG.
As for Soulframe, we do know that it will be an open-world RPG. The scope might be bigger than Warframe‘s main gameplay mode of instanced dungeon missions. For all we know, Soulframe might play out more similarly to the four “open-world” content-island areas in Warframe (Plains of Eidolon, Orb Vallis, Cambion Drift, Duviri).
Based on the gameplay demos and videos, Soulframe‘s multiplayer will also be similar to Warframe, which is a lobby co-op for four players. You can also play solo if you prefer. One thing is for sure, though: Soulframe will be free-to-play.
Digital Extremes will also apply to Soulframe whatever they learned in Warframe, all the better. That should make the wait for the Soulframe release date worth it.
