Diablo 4 has something in store for anyone looking to celebrate the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year. That would be the Lunar Awakening Event for Diablo 4 Season 3, which, like a mini-battle pass, adds some goodies for you to claim, except it’s a lot easier to obtain. You might not even notice the event’s gimmicks while you’re slaughtering hordes of demons. Thankfully, our Diablo 4 Lunar Shrines guide and Lunar Awakening Event guide will clarify things for you.

The Lunar Awakening Event adds a merchant called the Lunar Night Market in the major towns all over the map. This merchant’s job is to give you an overview of what’s in store and to reward you with Ancestral Favors depending on your progress for the Lunar Awakening Event.

Ancestral Favors are the rewards, and they can give you the following:

  • Weapon Skins
  • A new Character Marking
  • Mount Skins
  • Nightmare Dungeon Sigils
  • Armor
  • Gold

However, you have to progress the reward track if you want them. To do that, look for Lunar Shrines all over the map. The event runs until February 20, 2024, so you have plenty of time to grind for the rewards.

Diablo 4 Lunar Shrines are buffed versions of the regular shrines, which already give you some significant buffs. It’s worth noting that not all shrines will be converted to Lunar Shrines, and the best way to find them is to look for the shrines marked with purple stars on the map beside the shrines. See the image above for reference.

Other methods of locating Diablo 4 Lunar Shrines are Cleanse Shrine bounties from the Tree of Whispers and using the Ancestors’ Favor sigil for Nightmare Dungeons so that Lunar Shrines will also spawn in them.

Once you get to a Lunar Shrine, you have to speak to the Lunar Celebrant NPC first in order to trigger the event. The shrine will then be buffed, so remember to always claim the shrine’s effect. Below is the list of additional effects for Lunar Shrines on top of the regular shrine effect.

  • Artillery Shrine – Additional chance of summoning a bomb during attacks.
  • Blast Wave Shrine – Blasts now summon bomb clusters.
  • Channeling Shrine – Cooldown reset and increased attack speed.
  • Conduit Shrine – Increased Conduit attack damage.
  • Greed Shrine – Spawns a Treasure Goblin every 25 kills for the duration of the buff.
  • Lethal Shrine – Added chance to execute enemies and apply the fear status.
  • Protection Shrine – Reflects incoming damage.

Activating the Diablo 4 Lunar Shrines will also grant a 50 percent XP buff as well as a 30 percent increased movement speed. Basically, just keep ticking those shrines to get a domino effect of buffs and rewards.
