With all of the hype surrounding Wonder Woman and Guardians of the Galaxy you might have forgotten about Thor. The god of thunder’s movies have been less than the best the MCU has to offer. Yet, Thor Ragnarok maybe ‘third time’s the charm’.
First of all, we have the inclusion of the Hulk. This will be the character’s first major non-avengers appearance since Ruffalo took the reigns. According to the newly released synopsis;
“In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!”
Due to it being Thor’s first outing in Phase 3, the stakes are obviously higher this time. While the entire universe may not be at risk this time; things are more personal. Hulk’s role in the movie isn’t unique either as Doctor Strange will also be appearing. Because of the stinger of Strange’s origin movie, we know that he’ll be helping Thor and Loki find Odin. He’s doing this because he wants Thor to remove Loki from Earth. In addition, it’s unclear if Strange will be remaining on Earth or helping with Asgard.
Hopefully Thor Ragnarok isn’t counting on flashy guest appearances rather than solid story and characters. With Natalie Portman’s Jane not returning it looks like Thor’s supporting cast is being shaken up. As always, stick with The Nerd Stash for more news as it breaks.
