Surviving the wilds in Nightingale can be perilous, but much like any survival game, there are plenty of beasts to conquer for food. Animal meat and Leather are precious resources for various equipment and keeping your hunger meter at reasonable levels in Nightingale. However, it’s important to know your habitat and how to gather these items.
How To Harvest Animal Meat Nightingale
Animal meat can be found in creatures you find in Nightingale, typically called prey. When you kill any animal in the game, take out your knife and use it on the carcass, usually leaving at least one piece of meat.
You can cook the meat directly at your campfire in the most basic recipes, only costing a small amount of fuel, and you can use it to restore your hunger meter. This enables you to keep your stamina and health high while out in the wild.
How To Harvest Leather in Nightingale
This part is a bit more complicated, as you need to first complete the tutorial in Nightingale before you can process animal hide into Leather. Once you’re past this initial part, when you can invite other players in co-op, you can build a Tanning Station, a specialized crafting table for processing animal components. These ingredients are useful while upgrading your gear, such as at the Workbench.
This allows you to turn hide or chitin (from giant bugs) into Leather and create Straps and other crafting materials. Unlike cooking, you won’t need fuel beyond the raw materials for tanning, although the wait is slightly longer.
In case you encounter creatures like the Monarch Locust, a bonus feature to chitin is that you can refine this material into either hide or bone. Don’t forget that bones are a vital resource for Healing Salves through the campfire, which can be immensely helpful on the run! Every part of the beasts you kill is essential as long as you know where to use them.
