Marvel fans have been given the news they’ve been waiting for. It’s been confirmed that An X-Men TV series will air on Fox in association with Marvel television and 20th TV. It’s still up in the air as to when the project will be assigned a release date, but the fact that a pilot order has been given by Fox is good news. Max Nix, the creator of the popular show, Burn Notice on USA, will write and executive produce the pilot. It’s been confirmed that Bryan Singer will direct the pilot.

Bryan Singer is no stranger when it comes to dealing with the world’s favorite mutants. He has directed four movies to date based in the X-Men universe: X-Men (2000), X-Men 2 (2003), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), and X-Men: Apocolypse (2016). He also served as a producer on X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class, and is an executive producer of the upcoming X-Men show, titled Legion, coming to FX on February 8 at 10 PM ET. There isn’t any doubt that he has quite the resume when it comes to working with our mutant friends. This is good news as the series moves forward.

The show is rumored to be based on two parents discovering that their children have mutant abilities. As their parents discover the haunting truth, so does a threatening government agency. The family is then forced to go on the run. They find and join a group of mutants, where they must fight to survive. The series is said to be in the same universe as the movies, but they won’t be connected directly in any way. This begs the question: Will we see any cameos of our more popular mutants? It’s unlikely, but one can hope.

There’s a long road ahead for the show’s team, but things remain positive. Fox has issued a pilot order, which doesn’t necessarily mean the show will continue into production. However, if it doesn’t get a full series order then the network will have to pay a fee to the producers. In conclusion, there’s a good chance that we’ll be seeing the mutants on TV. Raise your hands if you’re excited!
