Although you can immediately head over to the Mythril Mine to progress the main story, you can also help various villagers in the Grasslands. Oliver has been having problems with his livestock being eaten by a wild beast. While tracking and killing monsters is the bread and butter of a mercenary, this creature may pose more challenges than most players expect. Despite being an optional boss from the Livestock Bane side quest, White Terror offers one of the most difficult fights in FF7 Rebirth.
FF7 Rebirth Livestock’s Bane Quest White Terror Boss
After accepting the Livestock Bane side quest, you can track White Terror using your Chocobo’s nose in FF7 Rebirth. A golden thread will lead you to the monster’s nest, and you can easily sprint past regular monsters that get in your way. When you reach the area, you will find the beast sleeping near a cave entrance on a beach.
The boss fight will automatically start when you approach the creature, so I highly recommend saving before you proceed. White Terror is a dangerous grassland wolf that does not have any elemental weakness. Here are its attributes:
- Weakness: None
- Lesser Resistance: None
- Greater Resistances: None
- Absorbed Elements: None
- Immunities: Proportional Damage and Petrify
You can pressure White Terror by blocking its attacks or damaging the beast. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done since this monster hits like a truck. I suggest bringing a ton of healing items and equipping healing Materia to your party member.
If you want to survive, you should constantly switch between characters. The boss will primarily target any unit that you control so you can mitigate some damage by not sticking to one character. For example, attack the creature until you get one ATB Gauge, unleash an ability, and then switch to another character.
Remember to stay patient and watch White Terror’s movement. You want to block or evade its attack to pressure the creature. However, one dangerous move that you need to stay away from is Earsplitting Howl. This AoE Fire attack targets your whole team, so prepare to heal your party once it is over.
If you have a Morph Materia, you may consider casting this magic on White Terror since it is not immune to it in FF7 Rebirth. Do note that this status effect only works when the beast has low HP. You can also try Poison on this boss, and luckily, Red XIII has this Materia equipped.
Here is the team composition you can use during this boss battle:
- Cloud – Enter Punisher Mode when the boss is staggered.
- Red XIII – Block White Terror’s attack to charge up Vengeance Mode.
- Tifa – Use her Unbridled Rage.
