Just when you thought your dreams were finally safe once again, think again. Robert Englund, the classic horror movie star, will be dawning the Freddy Krueger make-up once again in a new documentary on theย Nightmare on Elm Streetย film series calledย Nightmares in the Makeup Chair.
In this slasher documentary, we will get to see the process of making Freddy Krueger come to life, step by step.ย Robert Kurtzman, known for his work on Evil Dead, Tusk,ย andย theย Nightmare on Elm Street franchise,ย will not only do Englund’s makeup from start to finish, but we will also get a look inside his makeup and effects studio. Ultimately, the film is a tribute to the late Wes Craven, who passed away 2 years ago. Kurtzman and Englund will share stories from behind the scenes of the film series and about Craven’s legacy in horror. The film also provides a look at some interviews with Robert Englund and the icon interacting with some horror fans.

Englund had this to say about his time making the documentary:
‘NIGHTMARES IN THE MAKEUP CHAIRโ is my love letter to the Nightmare on Elm Street series and to practical makeup. Iโve always been in awe of the multi-talented makeup effects artists. From sketching to sculpting, they realize the design. Then to the fine precision of the molding and the manufacturing of the makeup appliances which are nearly paper thin. And then, the application process where I sit in the makeup chair and I become their living canvas as they glue me in and paint the appliances. This documentary not only captures their talent, but I think it might inspire a new generation of practical effects artists. I was happy to become Freddy once again to share the makeup process with the fans
Nightmares in the Make-Up Chair,ย directed by Michael Kertz,ย has yet to receive an official release date. However, they have promised a release at an unnamed film festival scheduled for later this year. Aside from the film, it seems that Kurtzman has also put together a coffee table book detailing the process of transforming Englund into the iconic slasher, Freddy Krueger.
