We can’t keep spreading freedom like this, not without more Napalm and more Nukes! Because now there are sightings of the new enemy type in Helldivers 2: flying bugs. Let’s face it, you’ve probably been chilling too much in Terminid territories, which is why Joel likely introduced these somewhat rare hell-spawned flying bugs. Now we’re all in big trouble.
Flying Bugs Sighted in Helldivers 2
During the early stages of the Termicide Control Major Order weekly event, it seems the pest purge has awakened a new enemy type. Reddit user u/Projectpatdc posted a video of his traumatic encounter with the creatures.
At the 27-second mark, a pack of what appeared to be flying bugs flanked our brave and patriotic Helldiver. But thankfully, his trusty Guard Dog “Rover” made quick work of the winged wretches. This marks the first recorded sighting of flying bugs in Helldivers 2 who may or may not be called Shriekers.
Prior to that, the only Terminids that could fly (barely) were the Hunters and at best, they could only flutter their tiny wings to leap towards you.
So yes, they fly now. The bugs can fly. You now have another weak spot to watch apart from all your sides. Thankfully, it appears the Shriekers can only attack in melee range, otherwise, we might have to bomb the whole planet. Scorched Earth. Right now, you should be able to manage by just nuking the immediate area of the flying bug nest.
Helldivers 2 CEO Says Flying Bugs Aren’t Real, They Can’t Hurt You
However, in the interest of Super Earth and its freedom and safety-loving citizens, flying bugs do not exist and are [REDACTED]. At least that’s what Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt claims. Apparently, “bugs can’t fly” according to Pilestedt.
Pilestedt also assured everyone the flying bug rumors could be just bug sympathizer propaganda. We probably have to undergo waterboarding and lobotomization to forget about this flying bug sighting, all in the name of managed democracy.
But in all seriousness, it appears Arrowhead Game Studios just wants to surprise and blindside its Helldivers. Personally, we haven’t experienced those flying bug terror attacks ourselves since we’re busy bombing the Umlaut Sector with Termicide, but it’s best to keep an eye out and watch the skies.
Some eagle-eyed fans even pointed out that the flying bugs were in the game’s official cover art and that they were merely introduced a bit late into the party.

And while those flying bugs can indeed fly, they are by no means free, and that’s why you must introduce them to the concept of freedom, either through the Flamethrower or nukes.
