Who doesn’t love fishing? From Ghost Fish to Sea Cucumber, Stardew Valley offers a ton of aquatic creatures that farmers can catch to fill their time. The 1.6 update introduces three new rare fish called Cave, Sea, and River Jelly into Stardew Valley. Besides selling these marine animals to get some Gold, you can also use them to craft Artisan Equipment to make an expensive artisan product that can make you rich.

Unlike the five legendary fish that are picky about their spawn location, the three Jellies are quite easy to find. Here are the fishing spots you can go to:

  • Cave Jelly: You can catch this marine animal in any underground body of water, such as the Pelican Town Mine.
  • Sea Jelly: This sea creature can be found in the sea during all seasons.
  • River Jelly: You can fish this creature from the river in Pelican Town during all seasons.

Catching any Jelly is no easy feat since their chance of appearing is extremely low. I highly recommend having a Luck buff when you try to fish these creatures. First, you want to check your daily luck via the Fortune Teller channel on your TV. Second, you may also eat Lucky food, like Fried Eel, to increase your fortune for that day.

Equipping Deluxe Bait and the Dressed Spinner tackle to your Fishing Rod can increase the rate of fish biting. However, you should still be prepared to spend several in-game days to capture these Jellies in Stardew Valley.

How To Use

You can eat any of the Jelly to restore your HP and Energy in Stardew Valley. Each of them also offers a limited-time buff that may make adventuring into Skull Cavern easier.

  • Cave Jelly: +75 Energy and +33 Health (Buff: +1 Luck)
  • Sea Jelly: +88 Energy and +39 Health (Buff: +30 max Energy)
  • River Jelly: +75 Energy and +33 Health (Buff: +1 Fishing)

The three Jellies are also materials required to craft a Fish Smoker. You can purchase the Recipe from Willy for 10,000 Gold. Any fish you place inside will be turned into smoked fish, which has double the original selling price.

Here are the materials you need to make one Fish Smoker:

  • Hardwood x10
  • Sea Jelly x1
  • River Jelly x1
  • Cave Jelly x1
