Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail have a bit of a sibling rivalry at this point, with both games pining for the crown of ‘best gacha game.’ Genshin Impact typically comes out on top, with a substantive open world and thoughtfully designed characters, but Honkai Star Rail is gaining momentum. After Acheron’s banner release, Honkai Star Rail has decrowned Genshin Impact, topping revenue charts.

Honkai Star Rail‘s is still in the early stages of its anniversary update. As with any major update, the game also released a new 5-star character for players to enjoy, Acheron. Acheron is a major character in the Penacony story and is one of the coolest characters in the game to date. Fans of the game seem to agree, as revenue for her banner has skyrocketed. Acheron’s banner is the most profitable to date, even overcrowning Seele.

This is according to recent data from GachaRevnue, a website that approximates revenue from different gacha games. According to this data, Honkai Star Rail has made approximately $150 million USD, easily decrowning Genshin Impact as the most profitable gacha game for March 2024. Admittedly, Genshin Impact is currently in one of its more drier updates, while Honkai Star Rail is in the middle of a major anniversary update. Still, it’s impressive how HoYoverse has carved out a major portion of the gacha game market.

Fans tend to enjoy comparing banner revenues with each other from character to character, as they see it as a measure of character popularity. It can admittedly get a bit toxic, but there is some level of satisfaction in knowing your favorite character sold a lot. Acheron is shaping up to be one of the most popular characters to date, and it’s not hard to see why. We’ll see if Aventurine can keep up the game’s momentum when he releases in a few weeks.
