The Breaker shotgun, with its fully automatic capability to dispense 900 Freedom(s) per minute, remains unmatched in Helldivers 2. In fact, it’s the only shotgun you need, and using anything else is treason. Probably. Most likely. And just when you thought the Breaker couldn’t get any better, it comes in two other variants, but are they actually worth the Medals? That’s why we’re ranking all the Helldivers 2 Breaker variants.
3. SG-225SP Breaker Spray & Pray
Damage | 192 |
Recoil | 45 |
Capacity | 26 |
Fire Rate | 330 |
Traits | Light Armor Penetrating |
Cost | 60 Medals (Free Warbond Page 9) |
For nearsighted Helldivers, this is the perfect weapon. It’s the Breaker embodiment of the quintessential shotgun — inaccurate as heck and one trigger away from being a melee weapon.
That very well means it’s nearly useless in Automaton territory where most enemies are armored and will snipe you with rocket launchers. However, for Terminid territories, this weapon is a certified life-saver.
True enough to its name, the Breaker Spray & Pray works best when you’re being swarmed by a ravenous alien fan club. Just fire and hit everything in front of you. That very strength also means it lacks versatility.
Is it worth unlocking for nearly 900 Medals (pre-requisite Warbond pages included)? Not really. If you already prefer to equip the Guard Dog Rover backpack, this weapon is easily outclassed.
2. SG-225 Breaker
Damage | 330 |
Recoil | 55 |
Capacity | 13 |
Fire Rate | 300 |
Traits | Light Armor Penetrating |
Cost | 20 Medals (Free Warbond Page 4) |
Despite being a shotgun, the regular Breaker is something you can take just about anywhere in the game. It even works well against those cheating, rocket-sniping Automatons simply because the Breaker has a decent range.
Unlocking it is also easy, but sadly, if you already have it, there’s not much sense in grabbing the Spray & Pray variant. It deals higher damage per shot compared to the Spray & Pray and also has a better range.
That’s why you’ll commonly see this weapon in difficulties past Hard, as it’s not just versatile but also powerful.
1. SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary
Damage | 180 |
Recoil | 28 |
Capacity | 25 |
Fire Rate | 300 |
Traits | Light Armor Penetrating | Incendiary |
Cost | 60 Medals (Steeled Veterans Warbond Page 2) |
While the difference between the Spray & Pray and the regular Breaker is significant, it’s a bit of a toss-up between the regular Breaker and the Incendiary. However, if you’re looking to save up on ammo (as the Breaker can chew through supplies fast), then the Incendiary is the better choice.
It also has little to no recoil compared to the regular Breaker, and the rounds have innate fire damage. With the recent buffs to fire damage, this weapon has become even more reliable.
Just be careful with the friendly fire, though. Burning status is too fast and deadly nowadays. A stray burning bullet from the Incendiary will almost instantly kill your squadmates (though the same goes for small enemies). What goes around comes around.
