Ever wondered how the Brotherhood of Steel keeps getting flooded with new blood to recruit? It’s the Power Armor. Everybody wants it. With Fallout 4 giving you a taste of that armored ‘Ad Victoriam’ earlier than the other games did, you’re bound to seek out more of that steel sanctuary. For those of you looking to go toe-to-toe with Deathclaws and Super Mutants alike, consider visiting the following Power Armor locations in Fallout 4.
Best Power Armor Sets in Fallout 4 (Full Set Locations)
Let’s hop immediately into the best complete Power Armor sets in Fallout 4 (and their locations, of course). These are full sets, by the way, not just partial.
Important: While I marked the Power Armor locations on the map, they might all spawn random sets of Power Armor. Their spawn rate is dependent on your level (with level 28 giving a higher chance to spawn the best Power Armor set. Save your game manually first before checking the locations so you can reload in case you get a set you don’t want.
There are only a handful of locations that give guaranteed set types (more details below). Here’s what to expect with each of the four locations above:
- The first marked location is near a crashed Vertibird in the water. It’s on a military barge. The Power Armor is inside the cage on the barge.
- The second location is the 35 Court building. The Power Armor is inside a locked compartment. The lock controls are in the room with the Assaultron and Sentry bot.
- The third location would be the South Boston Military Checkpoint. The Power Armor is inside a cage within the location.
- The fourth location can only spawn T-45 and T-51, by the way (more about that later). The Power Armor is on the highway, next to a crashed Vertibird.
Prioritize seeking out these Power Armor sets based on your level. Here’s a level guide for the power armor sets.
Level 28 or Higher: X-01 Power Armor
The most powerful variant of the Power Armor is the good old Enclave X-01. You can start obtaining it in non-guaranteed power armor spawn locations if you’re level 28 or higher. Even then, you might still get a different Power Armor set.
If you want the best Power Armor from the marked locations above, you might want to hold off until level 28. Or you could just go to Nuka World…
Quantum Variant is a Guaranteed Spawn in Nuka World’s Star Control Quest
The only guaranteed X-01 Power Armor set is available in Nuka World (DLC). It’s in a glass case located on the first floor of Starport Nuka accessible through the quest Star Control. Make sure you obtain all the 35 Star cores to unlock this power armor.
It’s also a Quantum variant with a blue color. Everywhere else is a roulette for the X-01.
Level 18 or Higher: T-60 Power Armor
The T-60 Power Armor isn’t that visually distinct from the very first Power Armor you’ll find after meeting Preston Garvey but it has better stats and looks a bit bulkier. If you want a chance for one, head over to the marked map image above.
If you want a guaranteed and pristine T-60, follow the instructions below.
Tesla Variant is a Guaranteed Reward in Automatron’s Headhunting Quest
You need the Automatron add-on for this. If you finish the Mechanical Menace quest chain which leads up to Headhunting, you can loot the Tesla T-60 Power Armor off Ivey’s corpse in Fort Hagen. It’s a cleaner T-60 with an energy damage bonus.
Otherwise, you’re going to have to obtain it from these locations for a weaker and dirtier variant of the T-60:
- Join the Brotherhood of Steel, there are four T-60 sets in the Prydwen. You can also buy it.
- Buy the set from Rowdy in the Atom Cats Garage Buy the set from Rowdy in the Atom Cats Garage (it’s on the map’s eastern coast, south of Boston).
Level 10 or Higher: T-51 Power Armor
It looks a bit silly with the off-color torso piece but at level 10, beggars can’t be choosers. Again, check one of the locations on the marked map image above, or for a guaranteed T-51, follow the instructions below.
Guaranteed in Several Locations or Quests
- Buy the set from Rowdy in the Atom Cats Garage (it’s on the map’s eastern coast, south of Boston)
- Go to Quincy Ruins (southeast, south of Boston) and find Clint. He wears a T-51 and is normally outside of the armor.
- Nuka World Gunners wear full sets.
Level 1 or Higher: T-45 Power Armor
You can find one as part of the main quest. The problem is that the limb parts of the T-45 you find in the Museum of Freedom are busted. The Deathclaw you fight later on might also completely break them. If you can be careful, however, you can repair the broken parts in Sanctuary.
