Stellar Blade isn’t even out yet, and developer Shift Up has demonstrated its intentions of keeping the game updated with content post-launch. The game is only a day away from a public release, while review copies were sent out days ago. Some of the issues critics pointed out, like the lack of a New Game Plus mode, have already been addressed before the release through a day-one update for Stellar Blade.

Detailed in a PlayStation Blog (spoiler alert for each feature), Shift Up has mentioned all the additional content coming to the game with the day-one update. The biggest addition has to be the New Game Plus mode, since there didn’t seem to be much replay value before this.

Other than the New Game Plus mode, players will be getting new skills that can only be acquired by replaying the game and aren’t available in the first playthrough. Coupled with the new skills is a higher difficulty setting that will balance things out with new enemy placements to shake things up compared to the original playthrough. The leveling system will also be beefed up upon reaching the second playthrough, which will allow for more progression options after finishing the game.

Apart from the gameplay additions, there are a lot more cosmetic options as well. The second playthrough will allow you to collect 34 new costumes on top of the 30 already in the game, five more accessories, and two cosmetic items. And of course, any of the XP and upgrades that you’ve collected up to the end of the first playthrough will be available in New Game Plus as well.

Shift Up unintentionally added a racial slur in the game, which will also be removed in the day-one update of Stellar Blade. The game will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 24, 2024.
