Updated June 2024: Expanded the “Crafting a Universal Adapter” section.
Disney Dreamlight Valley got a big new update today, which means that Act II of A Rift in Time is finally here! The game’s first paid expansion was released back in December, giving players new characters, a brand new story, and a new map: Eternity Isle. Act II of the expansion picks up where the first act left off, with Merlin leading players to the Sunken Ruins in search of the Spark of Imagination. To do that, you’ll need help from Eternity Isle newcomers Gaston, Rapunzel, and Eve; the last of the three is who you’re helping out in the “Does Not Compute” quest.
How to Start the “Does Not Compute” Quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
In order to start the “Does Not Compute” quest, you’ll need to have completed Act I of A Rift in Time and the quest “The Sunken Ruins,” where you and Merlin use the Royal Hourglass to travel to the Sunken Ruins in Eternity Isle. Inside the ruins, you’ll find three chambers with a stone pedestal, music notes, and an ancient computer. For the pedestal and music notes, you’ll need help from Gaston and Rapunzel, but for the purposes of this guide, we’re focusing on the ancient computer, where you’ll need Eve‘s help.
To start the “Does Not Compute” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, find Eve on Eternity Isle and talk to her. You’ll explain that you need help talking to the ancient computer, and Eve will explain – in her own way – that she can’t talk to the computer, but she knows where to find ancient artifacts to build the adapter she needs. Eve will give you a treasure map, with five locations all marked with the tool you’ll need to use in that location. You can decipher the artifact locations using the map, but we’ve also broken down the list below.
“Does Not Compute” – All Ancient Artifact Locations
- Ancient Dictionary: Gaston’s hideout in the Glittering Dunes. Go to the area where you first found Gaston, just off the Oasis, and use the Royal Pickaxe to break the grey rock to the right of the ramp.
- Ancient Processor Blueprint: Eve’s hideout behind the waterfall in Ancient’s Landing. Go to the spot where you found Eve’s memory behind the waterfall near the Docks, and use the Royal Hourglass to find the blueprint near the back wall.
- Ancient Slate: Eve and Wall-E’s beach in the Overlook. From the Overlook, go down the stone steps to the beach, where you helped Eve and Wall-E plan a picnic. Use the Royal Fishing Rod on the orange/gold fishing spot to get the Ancient Slate.
- Ancient Processor Crystal: The secluded beach in Ancient’s Landing. Go to the secluded beach east of Ancient’s Landing (the one with the Timebending Table) and use the Royal Shovel on the dig spot left of the entrance.
- Ancient Power Sphere: The Sundial Island in the Wild Tangle. In the Wild Tangle, go to the stone island with Rapunzel’s sundial, then go to the tiny island west of the sundial. Use the Royal Shovel on the dig spot in front of the ancient statue.
Once you’ve recovered all of the ancient artifacts, you’ll have to collect yet more things to build the Ancient Processor. If you don’t have them already, you’ll be asked to find the following:
- 3x Ancient Gear
- 3x Ancient Plate
- 3x Ancient Magnet
Thankfully, the process for finding these parts is much simpler than it was before. All you need to do is use the Royal Hourglass to uncover ancient treasures around Eternity Isle; it might take some time to find all the parts, but once you’ve got them, go to any Timebending Table to build the Ancient Processor.
“Does Not Compute” Quest – Crafting the Universal Adapter
Once you’ve crafted the Ancient Processor, head back to Eve. Talk to her, and Eve will reveal one more hurdle in the “Does Not Compute” quest: she needs a Universal Adapter to use the processor, and you need to build her one. To do this, you’ll need to go to her house and take a picture of a few items to get a sense for how Eve works. The quest objective will ask you to take a picture of:
- Something round with holes: the white, round table near Eve’s sitting area. It might have a plant on it if you’ve completed Eve’s quest “Directive: Plant.”
- Some sort of power output: this one is a little self-explanatory, but it can be tricky to get the right photo. Technically, either the lamps along the floor OR the hologram displays near Eve’s bed can work for this one.
- Some glossy globes: the ceiling lamp hanging in the center of the room.
Once you’ve got all the photos from Eve’s house, you’ll need to gather the following materials in order to craft the Universal Adapter:
- 10x Oasis Glass
- 15x Plastic Scrap
- 15x Copper
- 3x Mechanical Parts
- 2x Brass Ingots
Copper is probably the easiest to find, as you can get it from mining spots all around Eternity Isle. Oasis Glass can be found by digging in the Glittering Dunes, and you can find Plastic Scrap by fishing in the water outside of fishing spots anywhere around the Isle. You’ll need copper, zinc (found in the Wild Tangle), tin, and coal to make the Brass Ingots and Bronze Ingots, which are then made into Mechanical Parts.
After you’ve got all the materials gathered and crafted, head to a crafting table to make Eve’s Universal Adapter. When it’s finished, return to Eve and hand it over to officially complete Eve’s “Does Not Compute” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
