Wednesday Addams is coming back and Jenna Ortega is ready to make her return to Nevermore. Earlier today, Netflix released the news that Wednesday season 2 has officially begun production, with a few new faces added to the cast as new Addams family members and a couple season 1 stars missing too. The set itself has also changed locations between the seasons, but one thing that’s not changing is Wednesday herself. Jenna Ortega has shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself in Wednesday’s twin braids and black-and-white outfit, set and ready to return to the hallowed halls of Nevermore Academy for season 2.

When we last saw Wednesday Addams, she and her newfound friends were defeating the monster responsible for a string of supernatural murders in the town surrounding Nevermore Academy. Season one of Wednesday follows Wednesday (Ortega) as she’s enrolled at Nevermore and finds that her cold, brash personality puts her at odds with most of the student body and the school’s principal. However, she eventually warms up to her werewolf roommate Enid, psychic artist Xavier Thorpe, and totally normal boy Tyler Galpin. Netflix renewed the series back in January 2023, but the Hollywood strikes led to filming being delayed until now.

As of today, production of Wednesday season 2 has officially begun, and Jenna Ortega has shared an official behind-the-scenes photo with her wearing Wednesday’s signature braids. She’s also shared Netflix’s official cast announcement. We know Emma Myers will be returning as Enid, alongside Joy Sunday as Bianca, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

All of the Addams family have been upgraded from guest stars to regular cast members for season 2, while Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin has been demoted to a guest star after the events of season 2. Notably absent from the cast list is Percy Hynes White, who will not be returning as Xavier following accusations of sexual abuse.

Interestingly, Wednesday season 2 will also be seeing plenty of new faces. Steve Buscemi will join the cast as Barry Dort, the school’s new principal, with Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Addams and Billie Piper as Capri. Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, and Christopher Lloyd will also be coming aboard for season 2, among other names. Not much is known about what season 2 will hold, but production has begun and we’re officially on our way to finding out.
