Dead by Daylight has never gone full fantasy, but that changes now. Behaviour’s newest teaser trailer reveals the newest addition to the Fog: Dungeons & Dragons. Though the trailer doesn’t reveal what killer or other content might be coming to the game, the possibilities are exciting. DbD has already delved into sci-fi with the Xenomorph and Singularity, but fantasy has remained on the fringes. Mikaela opened the door for magical hijinks in Hour of the Witch, and it looks like that spell is finally getting cast. Here’s what we know about the teaser trailer and what Dungeons & Dragons might mean for The Entity’s realm.
Dungeons & Dragons Joins Dead by Daylight
From the classic fantasy worlds of Dragonlance and the Forgotten Realms to the harsh deserts of Eberron and the multi-dimensional weirdness of Planescape, Dungeons & Dragons includes wildly different settings. It’s hard to guess what corner of that vast tapestry DbD will focus on. The trailer shows what appears to be a Beholder slamming against the bars of a dungeon door. With nothing else to go on, there’s no telling whether the Fog will actually play host to this classic D&D monster or if it’s simply symbolic.
Whether you’re grinding for P100 or dabbling with your first killer, there’s reason to be hyped about this crossover. DbD stands on a foundation of iconic franchises like Halloween and Resident Evil, but Dungeons & Dragons offers the greatest potential yet for Dead by Daylight. With almost limitless stories, worlds, and characters to choose from, we’ll just have to wait until the game’s 8th Anniversary event on May 14th to see what spell the devs intend to cast.
Dead by Daylight is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
