LeBron James is the biggest name in professional basketball. However, his son, LeBron James Jr., a.k.a. Bronny James, is about to burst onto the scene. After suffering from cardiac arrest in 2023, Bronny James has been medically cleared for the NBA. The 19-year-old recently decided to declare for the NBA Draft while retaining his college eligibility. This was a shock to many fans and NAB insiders, as many believe James is not ready for the league.
According to TMZ, Bronny will participate in 5-on-5 scrimmages starting Tuesday. This will give him the opportunity to show what he can do against other potential draft picks. James Jr. had a procedure to correct a congenital heart defect just nine months ago. To be able to participate in the NBA Draft Combine after such an incident is extremely impressive. He has officially been cleared to participate in NBA-related activity. This makes his move toward stardom closer to becoming a reality.
Will Lebron James Team Up with His Son, Bronny James?
Bronny James averaged just 5 points per game in his first season at the University of Southern California. However, this was more than his father averaged in college, as LeBron James came straight out of high school to the NBA. Bronny also entered the NCAA transfer portal. That means if he wants to stay in college, he will be at a different school. LeBron recently spoke on this ordeal, saying he will support his oldest son despite the outcome of the draft.
With Bronny struggling in college, many believe he could go undrafted. However, LeBron has made it very clear that he wants to play on a team with his son. With that being said, a team may draft Bronny in hopes of also getting LeBron James.
If that is the case, Bronny James may get picked up in the second round of the NBA Draft. It will be very interesting to see the outcome of these events. Will LeBron James team up with his son? Fans will have to wait to see what happens. In the meantime, the NBA Playoffs are in full swing to hold fans over until the draft.
