Shadow of War will be available on pretty much everything: PC, PlayStation 4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Project Scorpio, and will also be available as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. The story will continue to focus on our heroes from the first one, Talion and Celebrimbor. The combo will return as the Bright Lord where they must sneak behind enemy lines to not only defeat the true villain, Sauron but to turn all of Mordor against him. The Nemesis system is bigger than ever with new stories of loyalty and betrayal and will now affect all parts of the playthrough.
Unfortunately, the title was stripped of some of its shock value by a retailer mishap earlier this week. Last weekend, Target had the pre-order available on their site with a link to the PS4 and Xbox versions of the title. Obviously, the title had yet to be officially announced; it makes one wonder if it might have been planned?
In a press release, Monolith Productions announced that there would be 4 editions of the game upon release: standard, silver, gold and mithril. For the most part, price points haven’t been released for the various editions. While pre-ordering the standard edition will land you with some pretty sweet perks, it’s nothing compared to what some of the next tiers have in store.
- The silver edition will include the Outlaw and Slaughter Tribe Nemesis expansion packs along with silver war chest.
- The gold edition will include everything in the silver edition, The Blade of Galadriel and The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion, and a gold war chest.
- Now, the mithril version is really where it’s at. It includes everything in the gold edition, a limited edition 15-inch Tar-Goroth Balrog vs. Carnan Drake statue, a collection of exclusive lithographs, a premium case with magnetic Ring of Power, a steel case, a game music soundtrack, a cloth Map of Mordor, a Tribes sticker pack and both gold and mithril war chests
