Microsoft Is Reportedly Putting The Next Call Of Duty On Xbox Game Pass

After the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, the first thing fans were wondering was whether the Call of Duty series would make its way onto Xbox Game Pass. This seems to be the case according to sources of the Wall Street Journal, who claim that the upcoming Call of Duty sequel will be a day-one release on Game Pass.

The latest entry in the long-running franchise has not been officially announced yet, but if true, this would be the first Call of Duty game to join any service on release. The reason this is a big deal is that anyone can get access to the new release for only $11 and play the game for a month.

This was one of the biggest hurdles for Microsoft when trying to acquire Activision Blizzard because Sony claimed that this would give Xbox a major advantage if the best-selling game every year was free for Game Pass subscribers, but fully priced for everyone else.

The official reveal of the latest Call of Duty game might take place this month within Warzone as an unveiling event. That is coupled with dataminers who found hints of an announcement being planned within the files of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 3.

Microsoft has already announced that an Xbox Games Showcase will take place on June 9, which will also show off a mystery title. That mysterious title is possibly the next Call of Duty game, and Activision is targeting an October release.

This strategy is a major shift from how things have been done in the past. This should mean more people end up playing the game both on Xbox and PC because of its low barrier to entry. But on the other hand, this could also result in another Xbox Game Pass price bump to justify the release of Call of Duty.
