HBO Go Comes To Xbox One

There’s some even more good news for Xbox diehards, as they will be able to receive HBO Go through their Xbox One thanks to a new deal between Sling TV and HBO. The deal will allow Xbox One users who have Sling TV – or get the Xbox One exclusive app – to get HBO Go programs on their Xbox One without having to get cable.

The new deal, which was announced on Wednesday, will be the first live internet TV service to offer both scheduled and Video on Demand (VOD) content from HBO, setting aside any pirated copies of shows such as Game of Thrones, which is continually one of the most pirated shows ever each season.

Sling TV and HBO didn’t give an exact date as to when HBO Go will be available on the Xbox One app; however, they did say that HBOs programs will be available on Sling TV before the official air date of Game of Thrones‘ and Silicon Valley‘s new seasons premiere, which is scheduled for April 12.

Sling TV, which doesn’t require any form of contract or additional hardware installation, currently costs $20 a month and HBO Go will cost users an additional $15, which, all combined, still costs less than a monthly cable subscription, as well as being cheaper than the PlayStation Vue subscription service, which runs at $50 to $70 per month, depending on the bundle you subscribe to. None of PlayStation Vue’s bundles currently include HBO Go, and there are seemingly no plans to include HBO Go in any of its packages in the near future.

Aside from HBO Go, Sling TV also airs programs from ESPN, ESPN 2, TNT, TBS, the Food Network, HGTV, Cartoon Network, and the Disney Channel. The price tag for HBO Go on Sling TV is currently the exact same for both Apple TV and HBONow.com.
