Lisa Marie Presley’s Memories Rest On Riley Keough’s Shoulders
Riley Keough remembers her late mom, Lisa Marie Presley, as a “very powerful presence and extremely loving and extremely loyal and sort of a lioness — a fierce woman,” according to InTouch Magazine.
Before Lisa Marie Presley’s death, she had been working for years to compile a lifetime of memories. Unfortunately, Lisa passed away before her book was complete. Riley Keough understood how important it was for her mom to share her story, so she decided to channel Lisa Marie and finish her mother’s final project.
The untitled memoir will hit bookstores on October 15. Random House Publishing describes Lisa Marie Presley and Riley Keough’s co-write as raw, riveting, and one-of-a-kind.
“Few people had the opportunity to know who my mom was, other than being Elvis’ daughter,” Riley has said. “I was lucky to have had that opportunity, and working on preparing her autobiography for publication has been a privilege, albeit a bittersweet one.” She added, “I’m so excited to share my mom now, at her most vulnerable and honest. In doing so, I hope readers come to love my mom as much as I did.”
Riley Channels Lisa Marie
Lisa Marie Presley’s life story is full of pain and heartache. In the memoir, she details feeling haunted for decades by her birthright, four failed marriages, and the demons of childhood trauma, addiction, and loss.
She describes Elvis’ death as a defining moment in her life. Recalling her last night with him, she says she felt very unsettled after kissing him goodnight. Hours later, Lisa discovered his lifeless body on his bathroom floor. “I just had a feeling,” Lisa Marie said of his death at 42 after years of drug abuse. “He wasn’t doing well.”
Lisa felt destined to follow in her father’s footsteps. She reveals battling drug addiction at an early age, admitting she doesn’t know how she lived through those times.
Riley Keough says she learned a lot about her mom that she never knew working on this book. She claims Lisa never got over losing her dad and believed no pain would ever equal it. That is until she lost her only son, Benjamin Keough, to suicide in 2020. Lisa Marie Presley never recovered after Ben’s death. There are many dark family secrets revealed in this upcoming book that will shock fans.
Despite the hard times Lisa Marie Presley suffered, Riley Keough assures readers there were many beautiful times. The actress takes great pride in her mom’s memoir book. However, she prefers to remember the good times and Lisa’s strength and beauty, but mostly being a really wonderful mother.
