Summer Game Fest was an absolute blast for fighting game fans, from the character reveal trailer for season 2 of Street Fighter 6, to the new Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves trailer that showed off Terry against a few new faces. Both of these reveals are intertwined and hint at some future reveals that we can expect.

Not only will Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui be duking it out with combatants in Street Fighter 6 season 2, but Terry is looking better than ever in his new design in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and will be trading unfamiliar blows regardless of where he is playable.

A mainline Street Fighter game has never gotten a guest character in the history of the series, not counting other Capcom characters. This is the closest thing that fans of Capcom vs SNK are going to get to a sequel for the crossover series. Both Terry and Mai will be coming to Street Fighter 6 in Autumn 2024 and Winter 2025 respectively. To top it off, Fatal Fury hasn’t gotten a new game in ages, and this return gets better and better with every gameplay trailer. The crossover likely means that we will be seeing a Street Fighter character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves sometime down the line.

Once he comes out in Street Fighter 6, Terry will then return to his home turf in his new design and take on foes we’ve never seen before. The newest trailer for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves shows all the new fighters joining the cast, and that includes B. Jenet, a slender fighter who uses her looks just as much as her fists. It also includes Vox Reaper, a menacing purple flame user that instantly evokes memories of Iori from SNK’s other major fighting game series, The King of Fighters.

Unfortunately, we only got to see small glimpses of gameplay for each character, without showing any of their options in neutral. Luckily, however, SNK released a video for each new fighter that shows off some of their specials, combos, and supers on its official YouTube channel. Although Vox Reaper has never been seen in any fighting game in the past, pirate captain B. Jenet was present in the original Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves. She is also present in multiple games in The King of Fighter series.

Vox Reaper is a street assassin who tried to kill Kain R. Heinlein but was stopped by his bodyguard Grant, also known as Abel Cameron. Grant saw the potential in the young boy and decided to take him under his wing, which is why his style may seem familiar to players who have played the original game.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Ever-Growing Roster

FATAL FURY: CotW |Announcement Trailer #2

This is only a small part of the overall roster of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, as there are many returning faces, as well as new fighters. Until now, the other characters that have been revealed are the returning Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Hotaru Futaba, Tizoc, and Marco Rodrigues. The tornado-throwing and kickboxing Preecha is a completely new character that hasn’t been in any SNK game before. Even though she is completely new, she has an uncanny resemblance to a certain kickboxer named Joe Higashi, another mainstay that hasn’t yet been revealed.

SNK has not announced an official release date for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, but it is expected to be released sometime in the first half of 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
