If you’re one of those Dark and Darker players who were playing the game on the Blacksmith launcher and want to enjoy the rest of your adventure on Steam, we’ve got a mixed bag of news for you. Linking Steam and Epic Games accounts for Dark and Darker has been a big topic of discussion in the community, and the devs have addressed the issue with a bittersweet message.
Developed by Korean studio Ironmace, Dark and Darker is a multiplayer role-playing dungeon crawler. The game was released on Ironmace’s own launcher called Blacksmith last year with a price tag on it, but after dealing with some legal issues, Dark and Darker has relaunched on Steam and Epic Games. It’s free to download and get started, although you will need to pay to unlock the full game with Legendary Status.
That said, there are three ways you can get your hands on the game, but unfortunately enough, your progression across these platforms is not connected. As of right now, you can not link your Dark and Darker Blacksmith, Steam, or Epic Games accounts.
In other words, if you’ve been grinding through the game on the Blacksmith launcher since last year, you can’t bring the same progression to your Steam or Epic Games accounts. However, the devs have addressed the issue by stating that this is an upcoming feature, and you might be able to link your Dark and Darker account to Steam and Epic Games with later updates. If that’s the case, you should note that if you’ve started a fresh Dark and Darker account on Steam, you may just lose your progression by later linking it to the Blacksmith. That’s if you have made any progress in the game on other platforms.
Dark and Darker is available on PC.
