XDefiant started big by rivalling the likes of Call of Duty, delivering an immersive hero-shooter experience on a solid foundation. However, the infamous CoD killer didn’t thrive weeks after release with limited content and unfixed issues addressed by the community. And for that Tom Henderson, a prominent insider, has bombed XDefiant.
Things like a small circle of game modes, poor slide-jump optimization that redefines the laws of physics, and the big cap of weapon mastery levels may have shunned players away from playing XDefiant. For Tom Henderson, however, they sure did.
Over a post on X, Tom Henderson has addressed XDefiant as a “2 weeks game” that isn’t fun anymore. He thinks that “pushing it out the door” without a certain plan for a progression system and rewards is “disappointing, but predictable” which is quite true even considering the sudden increase of the weapon levels instead of fixing it.
Accordingly, fresh content for XDefiant is on the way in Season 2, which could be anytime between 3 to 6 months later. And this is while the Season 1 update of the game offers no more than a bunch of maps and a simple Ranked Play that should’ve been in the game since launch.
Now while the expert insider bombs XDefiant for its lack of support, fans are divided in an agree-or-argue situation.
Why are games releasing without the ranked mode being ready to go from the start? lol
Can someone actually explain why this game is better than cod
I like cod a lot, but with xdefiant i only played one match and didn’t play again it was that bad.
Personally, I am still having fun playing it. Sure I wish they had a better ranked off the bat, but just glad they had a 4v4 mode at launch which is something CoD doesn’t even do.
It’s ok BO6 will bury the game.
Games need to stop launching without ranked playlists
Played once and turned it off
XDefiant is a fun experience that borrows a lot of gameplay mechanics from games like Call of Duty, while still keeping that unique signature of adding Ubisoft titles’ heroes to the party. However, the game sure does need more support on fresh content that keeps the playerbase going.
XDefiant is currently available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
