It shouldn’t surprise us that a place called the Land of Shadow would be dark. The physical setting is gloomy and foreboding, and the lore surrounding Marika is darker still. What better tool to guide you than a torch? FromSoftware has delivered a ton of new weapons in this massive DLC, including a unique flaming weapon with a nasty ability. You’ll have to venture through twisted woods to get it, but you’ll receive a special prize for your trouble. Here’s how to get Nanaya’s Torch in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Shadow of the Erdtree Nanaya’s Torch Guide
You can get Nanaya’s Torch in Midra’s Manse located in the Abyssal Woods. That’s easier said than done thanks to the lantern-carrying, Madness-inducing enemies that stalk the woods. It’s once you reach the Manse that the real work begins, however. Here’s what you need to do to claim Nanaya’s Torch:
- Travel to the Midra’s Manse Site of Grace
- Strike the nearby portrait to open a secret passageway
- Go down the hall through the burnt library and into the dining room
- Take a left, a right, and another left, following the pathway between the bookcases
- Flip the switch and then climb the nearby ladder
- Travel through the room above until you reach a second ladder, then climb it
- Travel across the broken rafters, being careful not to fall, until you reach the Site of Grace
- Instead of proceeding across the bookcases ahead, drop down to the first floor
- Head through the nearby archway and strike the painting to open another hidden passageway (thanks, Miyazaki)
- Go up the stairs and climb the ladder, then flip the switch
- Jump through the broken railing and head straight across the platform
- Jump straight ahead to the next ledge and follow it around the edge of the room until you reach the seated body holding Nanaya’s Torch
Nanaya’s Torch is a spinal column burning with frenzied flame, making it a pretty gruesome relic. That said, it does grant you Feeble Lord’s Frenzied Flame. This AoE ability spreads madness all around you, but it affects your psyche as well, so beware. You can use this weapon while moving, as well, so it’s tempting to spam. Though the journey to get Nanaya’s Torch in Shadow of the Erdtree is a bit of a headache, it sure beats fighting Messmer.
