Stellar Blade came out on April 26 of this year exclusively on the PlayStation 5 to critical acclaim and impressive sales numbers. It was the most pre-ordered game on the PlayStation store before release and has gotten several free content updates. Now, Korean developer ShiftUp is considering a PC release for Stellar Blade, though the company don’t want to say too much about it yet.

ShiftUp is in a contractual relationship with Sony to keep Stellar Blade only on the PlayStation 5 for a specific time period. This timed exclusivity is why ShiftUp can’t reveal, discuss, or announce any plans to bring it to PC yet. That being said, the studio has teased the idea and admitted that a PC port is being “looked at.”

Stellar Blade Sales Figures & PC Release

According to ShiftUp CFO Jaewoo Ahn, the game has gotten over 1 million sales and the team is looking at a PC release of Stellar Blade, and thinks that it would be a great way to “monetize the IP once again.” He said this in the company’s Initial Public Offering filing (IPO) today, which gives hope to PC players. He also said that they can not discuss the exact timing of the PC release due to contractual obligations. But this is essentially a confirmation that a PC version is being worked on internally, and will be announced, and hopefully released, soon after the exclusivity contract expires.

This doesn’t mean PlayStation 5 players are being left in the dust, as ShiftUp also confirmed that it is working on a DLC expansion for the game, and that includes some IP collaborations. The company also mentioned a Stellar Blade sequel, and that more information about it will come to light in the future.

The developer wants to create a valuable IP that is recognizable to fans all over the world. They’ve done a fairly good job at it. In our review of Stellar Blade, we gave it an 8.5. It has phenomenal combat, exploration, and boss battles, but it struggles when it comes to the game’s narrative and the flat two-dimensional characters.
