  • Clover Retribution Devil Update, Explained
  • Divine Restriction, Spatial Magic, and the Arcanist

A burning vortex of fire and smoke appears, and you know it doesn’t lead anywhere good. The arrival of the Devil’s Rift signals dark things for Roblox Clover Retribution, and it leads to many questions. What is the Rift? How does it function? Who are the devils? The message “Something feels off…” is the server’s only warning that a Rift has spawned. It’s a rare event, and once it occurs, only one player can enter the Rift at a time. It’s about to get a little more Hellboy in here. Here’s what you need to know about the Clover Retribution devil update.

Devil Rifts let you forge a contract with a demon in exchange for power. That always works out well for everyone, right? There are two types of Devil Rift in Clover Retribution: those with and without black lightning around them. Lightning Rifts are higher tier, meaning they offer at least a Tier 3 (and possibly Tier 4) devil contract for entering them. Rifts without lightning offer Tier 1-2 contracts. Getting a Tier 3 is no cause for disappointment, however, since you can upgrade it later using a Demon Heart. No deal with a devil is complete without a catch, however. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Two types of contract exist: Bound and Unbound
  • Bound Contracts cap your gains at 50% of the devil’s stats. They also require you to sacrifice EXP, Gold, Max HP, or gain the Soul Drain debuff.
  • Unbound Contracts don’t cap your devilish stat gains and don’t require a sacrifice. To complete the contract, you will have to defeat the devil in a 1v1, however.

Your demonic contract allows you to trigger an aura of the same color as the Rift you used. Each buffs a different key ability: Strength (Orange), Dexterity (Yellow), Red (Constitution), or Intelligence (Purple). This demonic aura consumes Devilish Mana while in use. The only way to recover Devilish Mana is by consuming the Soul Fragments gained from NPCs. Once you have a devil, you can still enter Devil Rifts to fight the devils within. Killing them grants you a chance to obtain the following items:

  • Devil’s Eye – allows you to respec your devil stats
  • Devil’s Heart – increases the tier of your devil unless it’s already Tier 4
  • Devil’s Horn – allows you to reroll your devil’s appearance and name

If you ever want to remove your devil to respec your build, you can track down the Devil’s Advocate to do so. It’ll cost you a hefty 50,000 Gold, but if you hate your current devil and want it gone, that’s the price; there’s no other way around it without spending Robux. Now that’s devilish. Of course, these details are subject to change as the devs expand and rebalance the devil content.

Divine Restriction, Spatial Magic, and the Arcanist

The devil update didn’t end its fiendish plans with Rifts alone. It brought us an upgraded form of Heavenly Restricted known as Divine Restriction. Divine Restriction offers a stackable buff, so there’s at least one thing heavenly about it. The devil update also added the Arcanist, a new INT-scaling class with a variety of AoE attacks. Last, the devil update added a new type of magic to Clover Retribution: Spatial Magic. If you love teleportation abilities, this one’s for you, although the current moveset feels underwhelming. You might be better off sending it to the Ninth Circle for now.
