Savannah Chrisley has been working hard to help her parents secure their freedom. There seems to be progress where her mom, Julie Chrisley, is concerned.
Last week, a panel of three judges threw out the Chrisley Knows Best star’s sentence, determining the timeline of crimes means Julie has been sentenced for a period of time where she was not involved in the fraud at the heart of her sentence. With hopes that Julie may be home sooner came some upsetting realizations for Savannah.
Savannah’s Time as a Caretaker Won’t End When Her Mom Gets Home
Savannah Chrisley has been caring for their brother Grayson, 18, and niece Chloe, 11, since Julie and her husband Todd Chrisley reported to jail in 2023. As much excitement as the 26-year-old has to see the potential of her mom coming home, there’s also a lot of work to be done when Julie is released.
On a recent episode of the Unlocked podcast, Savannah shared a moment from a conversation with Julie about what’s next.
She said, “I know you want to have your own life, and I want you to do that, but for the first few months, you’re going to have to stay with me.”

The podcaster admitted it “broke her heart” and that she does plan to help her mom focus on her mental health after her release.
I have to let her process things. There’s going to be a lot of things when she comes home that is not going to be easy and the PTSD that these men and women suffer from being in prison is horrendous.

The Family Is Hopeful Their Matriarch Could Be Home By the Holidays
Savannah Chrisley explained that within less than 90 days, they’ll learn what the courts have decided about Julie’s sentence. She is optimistic her mom could be home as soon as Thanksgiving, noting it would make everything “so much better.”
Once Julie is home, she’s not quite out of the woods. Savannah shared her concern for her mom and siblings when the time comes. The reason? The reality star family is concerned about what press attention will look like when Julie is home.
It’s for that reason, in part, that Savannah wants to keep the news close to the vest when it’s happening.
It is gonna be challenging for her to come home and there’s going to be lots of therapy involved … anything I can do to help her get in the best space she could possibly ever be that’s what I’m gonna do … just getting her on the right track because I can only imagine how she’s gonna feel coming home, and it’s going to be overwhelming. And when I get the call that she can come home I honestly don’t think I’m gonna tell anyone. I’m probably just going to go and get her, bring her home, let her get settled and then let Chloe and Grayson walk into the room and not know that she’s there.
