When a pair of swordsmen named Roy and Marth made a debut appearance in Smash Bros. Melee, fans were intrigued by these new characters from a series of games they’d never gotten the chance to play. It was a nice little ploy on Nintendo’s part, and it worked far better than they likely anticipated. Thus, Fire Emblem exploded in the U.S. and Fates is the latest iteration in the exalted (Exalt, heh) franchise. To honor the series, we’re giving you speedruns of all three storylines in Fire Emblem: Fates. Oh, and did we mention: this is the Classic mode, meaning your allies can be killed… for good.

In Birthright, avatar character Corrin finds him/herself caught between the Hoshido and Nohr kingdoms, and sides with the former, their supposed blood family. For a turn-based strategy game, this route takes a surprisingly quick 40 minutes to march through by record holder Yukiya.

Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest sees Corrin allied with their adoptive family, Nohr, very much to the shock of the Hoshidan royals. Yukiya again graces us with the gold cup for this one, with a ten-minute difference compared to Birthright.

The Revelations run is brought to us by Anteri at 55 minutes long. Unlike the previous two versions, Corrin here refuses to choose one family over the other. And, as the title suggests, some game-changing revelations are made as a result.

Fire Emblem: Fates isn’t the most popular game in the series, in part due to how the plot is written, but it’s got everything veteran fans expect from the franchise as far as gameplay is concerned. Nintendo marketed it heavily, even pulling a Melee when they released Corrin as a DLC character in Smash 4 before the games hit the shelves.
