If you’re wondering why the word ‘season’ keeps popping up and appearing in Once Human‘s UI, that’s because the game runs in seasonal stretches. Each ‘season’ lasts six weeks. After that, some of your progress will get wiped and you have to start over again in the new season. However, there’s a way to retain some of this via Eternaland. It’s a complicated live-service structure, but once you get to know it, it should be more manageable.
How Do Seasons Work in Once Human
We do have to clarify this one first, before any violent reaction to the seasonal server wipe: you do not lose all your progress in Once Human every season.
Every six weeks (season duration) the servers will reset and your character will revert to Level 1. Memetics will be reset. Your base will be gone. The map coverage will also be reset. The seasonal server wipe is expected to happen around August 20, 2024. However, you will get to keep the following:
- Starchroms
- Crystgins
- Mitsuko’s Marks
- Stellar Planula
- Weapon Blueprints
- Armor Blueprints
- Blueprint Fragments
- Mods
- Accessories
- Furniture Formulas
- Cosmetics (expressions, skins, namecards, etc.)
- House Blueprints
- Main story & side quest progress
- Some materials, medicine, and ammunition
- Friend list
That means you can progress pretty quickly again despite the level, Memetics, and map reset. You can also use Blueprints to craft your rare weapons again. Leveling might be a pain, of course, but thankfully, your house is easier to rebuild this time.
At the very least, you can take comfort in knowing that it’s not a full or hard reset. You don’t need to worry about losing the items on which you spent money, but it’s not clear how the Battle Pass progress will work since Battle Passes last two months while seasons only last six weeks.
The new season will then present you with more content that’s different from the previous season with new objectives and new twists. For the time being, this is how it works, but that might change in the future depending on reception.
What is Eternaland in Once Human
As for Eternaland, it’s not as expansive as you might think. Eternaland is merely a small instanced area where you can transfer your base and continue building there. It’s not connected to the main game mode.
It’s simply a private in-game instance reserved for players who want to continue building and beautifying their houses or bases. You can also invite other players to Eternaland so you can show off your creations.
Eternaland, however, will serve as the transitional area between seasons. But even then, Eternaland will have its own separate server that’s not connected to seasonal servers.
