It’s been really a long time since the last time we got to witness a King of Fighters tournament. Thanks to SNK, however, 2025 will mark our exciting return to the realm of the Fatal Fury. Not only that, but there’s also one of the classic bosses of the franchise returning to the game. Behold, the King of Fighters champion Billy Kane in the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves!
We were introduced to Billy in the very first game of the Fatal Fury series in 1991. Geese Howard the crime lord held the King of Fighters tournament every year with Billy Kane as his undefeated champion. This formula was integrated in many of the Fatal Fury games, where you had to fight Billy first, and then reach the final boss.
Up until Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, however, things have changed. After Billy and Geese Howard’s defeat, for God knows many times, the crime lord is assumed dead at the hands of Terry Bogard. Ten years later, the rivalry between Billy Kane and Terry Bogard has reached a new level of intensity, as the former champion now leads the syndicate and seeks revenge following Charismatic Evil Geese Howard’s death.
Here’s a full description of Billy Kane via SNK:
As a loyal right-hand man to the infamous Geese Howard, Billy has taken the reins of the Howard Connection following his late mentor’s demise. Though he now leads the syndicate, he is consumed by the challenge of guiding his bereaved family of associates into a new era. One thing remains certain amidst the darkness and turmoil: Billy harbors a deep grudge against Terry Bogard, the man responsible for his master’s death.
Voiced by Warhammer 40,000: Rouge Trader‘s Chris Sharp, Billy Kane enters the new Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in a brand new outfit while he still utilizes his three sectional staff on fire.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available to play on PS5 and PC in 2025.
